This Is How We Party!

How to have the best night out possible:

1. Book a penthouse for the night
2. Get your work crew to come pre drink with you
3. Work for VHA, those guys know how to throw a decent party
4. Start up the dance floor in true party girl style, like me every time
5. Steal a huge Tiki skull and dance around with it on your head
6. Storm the stage and get photographed by a local paper singing with the Pit Bull look-alike

Word of warning though... always keep your shoes on I ended up with a shard of glass in my foot and needed medical attention that almost resulted in a quick trip to the ER. Also don't think that your friends will be there to help you out as I have said time and time again you can only ever rely on yourself.

All in all totally worth it had the night of my life and the pictures to show for it.

Brand New Tomorrow

So as those of you who read my blog religiously know (and don't lie I know you all do) you know how much I love and support Melbourne boys Daylight Hours.

Last week they released their EP 'Brand New Tomorrow' and saying that I loved it would be the understatement of the year. It's beyond amazing, I had it on repeat for two whole days.
It plays like an epic love story even though Adam assures me it's not about anyone in particular I'm being the hopeless romantic and will continue to think that they wrote it about one girl in particular, and who ever she is sounds very lucky.

"Me and You" was their first single out and it started this whole saga for me, but my favourite song off the EP would have to be "Definitely Maybe" its romantic but sad and depressing all at once and for some reason its the song I relate to most.

Check it out for yourselves and tell me if I'm wrong but I swear these guys wrote it for someone in particular and if Adam wont give up the secret looks like I'll have to convince Marty, Anthony or Phil to spill the beans on this one.

Get at it people buy this album... like NOW haha

When make-overs make you crush

Totally have a girl crush on my friend Danielle.

She recently gave herself a makeover and now looks like Ruby Rose who, lets face it, every girl has a girl crush on. Her sense of style is out of the window amazing and she has an air of confidence that makes you really see her when ever she walks into a room. Danielle now embodies all that is amazing about Ruby Rose. If only she could design her own fashion label and let me do the PR for it my life would be perfect haha.

I seriously wish I was friends with Ruby Rose, but for now Danielle will do lol :)

How to have fun in a town full of bogans

So as you all know I spent 3 weeks in both Melbourne and Bendigo.

Melbourne is amazing its full of fun, light, laughter, music and dancing. Dreams can actually come true in this town though i would never want to live here again. One of my high school friends and I went out clubbing to a place called Love Machine and had a weirdly fun night. The DJ was crazy amazing the drinks were cheap and there was a fair amount of talent around.
It's all fun and games until one rude bartender refuses to accept gold coins as payment then the night gets thrown out the window. Highlight of the night you ask??? Telling an idiot of for trying to dance on a podium but looking like a dying fish instead, I'm sorry but he needed to be told his ego was suffocating me!

As for Bendigo....

This town needs a lesson in Fashion and Music. There are the bare minimum of people who understand that trackies are not to be worn socially in public and also that thongs are not shoes you wear out to a club. Speaking of clubs... they are really just pub's with a small dance floor, hardly worth spending your time in really.

This trip was a little differnt for me though. It was like a huge high school reunion and only the nice people were invited.

One of my best mates from high school Zac Moore (aka Moorey) was there and it was amazing to see him.

I decided it as time for him to learn how to party Sydney style. We gate crashed two birthday parties, took over the DJ booth and only played what we wanted to hear and made a bar tender fall in love with me to score free drinks. We were at the club til after close doing shots with the manager and didn't get home til about 6:30am. That's how its done when you really want to party.

Also I just want to do a huge shout out to Daylight Hours and congratulate them on their gig with Tonight Alive. I was lucky enough to see Tonight Alive in Bendigo (even though I was surrounded by drunken 18 year olds) it was an amazing gig that I will never forget.

Tonight Alive rocked it like they were performing for people they'd known their whole lives and didn't hold anything back. Jenna looked like she was in her element the entire time sporting a massive smile in between tracks.

Their latest album 'What Are You So Scared Of?' is out now and can be picked up online at iTunes or from JB Hi-Fi so go out there and get it!!

Also Daylight Hours has a gig on November 12th all ages in Melbourne to launch their EP WOOOOOO!! So check out their facebook page for deets its a free gig people there's ZERO excuse not to go, and if you could 'like' their facebook page it would really make Adam stress less.

Jump out of your comfort zone and live for the sake of living people, and always remember that you can always blame the random things on music :)

Melbourne Bound

This blogger is heading to Melbourne.

Friends, Fun Nights, Live Bands and ALBUM LAUNCHES

Most exciting time ill have this month is October 14th when Tonight Alive launches their album.

Incase you haven't yet heard of these Australian made gems think Paramore mixed with punk rock heaven. They make you want to get angry at the guy who cheated on you, smile at life's little miracles and dance like no ones watching. I've already heard their entire album and I can't wait to party with the legends themselves as they celebrate their album launch at Melbourne's The HiFi. There are still tickets on sale for both the 14th and 15th and they are as little as $17 (15th is an Under 18's gig which also features my other fave Aussie acts Daylight Hours). Make sure you head out in Melbourne that night to see me partying up like the rockstar I wish I was.

Head to The HiFi to purchase your tickets for what is set to be a night to remember.

And as always my loves don't forget, everything I do, music made me do it <3

It Is The Season

So for those of you who follow me on twitter, you know I went out last night for my best friend Sam's 21st. The night was filled with tears, laughter, sequins and inappropriate behaviour.

First the people at Napoleon Perdis screwed up Sam's make-up royally making her cry and not even want to go out. Thankfully my PIMP cup saved the day and it was off to drinking in a decked out hotel room in the heart of Sydney.

Then there was the issue with the dress not being right. Every girl knows that monument birthday's require months of outfit planning but if you're not feeling it on the night you need to have back-ups. Sam did not so it was a late night trip to a funky little shop on George St. named Imagination. Finally she was ready to rule the night.

I ended up going with my personal version of the LBD. Only its bright pink. With sequins. Don't mock it guys this dress has been a life saver most of my time here in Sydney. I picked it up for only $25 at a Myer stocktake sale and its made by Kenji. This dress is a statement piece so needs little accessories along with it, hence pairing it with black skyscraper pumps and a black clutch.

We started at Hugo's where the bouncers were rude, the drinks were over priced and there was no dance floor. Here's a quick guide to clubbing with me.
1. Hit on the cutest bar tender and score cheaper drinks
2. Sweet talk the bouncers into letting you into VIP sections when you're not on the list
and 3. Most important of all. Make your own dance floor regardless of where you are.

This made the night instantly more fun. We also hit up Sapphire Lounge and Eye Bar all before going to the 24 hour tattoo parlour to get inked but was dragged out right before it was my turn. (actually bummed I didn't get my dragonfly!)

Probably the best part of the evening was the last half hour of the night. Scott and I danced in KFC while waiting for them to cook me 20 nuggets. We did the sprinkler and the scuba diver to retro pop music then i jumped into a fountain because it had purple shiny lights... All in all a fabulous evening, though I still maintain Newtown is more fun.

Live like no one is watching you guys, you have more fun that way ;)

You Make Me Wanna Die

So I just downloaded The Pretty Reckless and I was blown away.
Has anyone realised just how talented Taylor Momsen is?? She's freaking AMAZING!!
My favourite song from the album is a toss up between Heart and Blender each for their own reasons.
This album comes from the heart and soul of old school rock. Taylor's voice is raspy but in the best way possible and her vocal range is something right out of the 80's, cool and melodic at times and then perfectly angry and angsty in others. This girl may be young but her voice sounds like she's been around for years and is worldly beyond her years.

For those of you who haven't heard the breakthrough song "You Make Me Wanna Die" listen to it now!

This band is beyond amazing and is something you need to listen to every day to truly appreciate. I know I promote a lot of music on here as being amazing but that's because I'm right and I promise you all that I wouldn't say it if it weren't true.

When Random Things Happen...

You just go with it.

Lately on twitter a lot of Aussie bands have been adding me and asking me to listen to their music, believe it or not they have been something amazing! Last band to reach out to me was Slightly Left of Center who proved to be a new favourite of mine.

This next band absolutely blew me away, its the perfect mix of soul of pop that makes you long of summer days by the pool with friends doing nothing but relaxing with an amazing soundtrack.

Daylight Hours.
Learn them, Love them. Their EP is set to drop later this year and judging by the one song I have heard "Closer" I will be first in line to buy both a digital and hard copy of their tracks. So get to it guys start listening and love them as much as I did at the first note.

It's not often I find music that reminds me of Spring-times gone but these guys are well worth it.

I promise you wont regret listening and if you do just remember... Music made me do it! :)

All That Glitters

Sometimes you just need some glitter in your life to make it just that bit more fun. Last night one of my best friends Sam and I went out for an impromptu dancing session at a club that has incredibly low standards. Decided it was also time for that can of fake tan in my bathroom to be used for the first time this season. Glitter heels and a sequined clutch and I'm ready to take on the world. Add to this delightful evening David Guetta's new album and you have one hell of a night out with a dance floor.

Once again bar tenders love me, still haven't figured out why. He said it was because I have way too much confidence and I'm so nuts its funny, I think its because I flirt for my free drinks and push in line but still somehow come off looking cute.

The only thing that made this night even more fun was catching up with old friends and more importantly helping a friend realise that his girlfriend is actually a conniving toad with ulterior motives. Champagne sunrises, alize and lemonade and wet pussy shots make for one very very funny toast.

All I can say is thank-you Sam for changing my night from homework to dancing. Good call lady!

Mercedes-Benz Sydney Fashion Festival 2011

This past weekend I was lucky enough to attend Mercedes-Benz Sydney Fashion Festival. I went with my friend Ellie to the last of the review shows and was wowed by the sheer magnitude of art that walked down the runway. Alex Perry and Josh Goot had beautiful flowing creations that make every girl feel like a princess, Bowie (my all time favourite Australian designer) surprised with an amazing collection that left me wanting more from my idol. Just for my loyal readers i've recorded his runway show for those of you who couldn't be there to see his masterpiece in action!

The theme for this season seems to be unanimous, brights mixed together in an unconventional manner, Tan outfits with signature heels, sequins have reappeared which always makes me happy and also a resounding choice of long flowing dresses which compliment almost every body type. Also the biggest trend hitting the runway was white, every girl should own at least one statement white dress for this season. Camilla and Marc had one interesting piece which showed this off quite well. A pink over-sized top with a yellow balloon skirt, showcasing exactly why this years spring/summer trends will make everyone smile.

Manning Cartell also surprised with a collection of summer prints that make me wish for warmer weather and cocktail parties. Her designs were a mixture of her own staples along with a hint of Alannah Hill in her choice of print. Also pairing brights with statement necklaces and heels making more than one dramatic statement on the runway.

Manning Cartell

But I must say one of the dresses that in my opinion stole the show was an amazing gown by Rachel Gilbert which was eye catching to say the very least. It was something right out of a fairytale and moved with such ease and grace it left me speechless.

When I Grow Up....

Last weekend I went to a friends 21st birthday party.
The theme was 'What I wanted to be when I grew up' and naturally I authentically went as...
A LOLLIPOP LADY!

My costume was often mistaken with a nurse, lawn bowls lady and old person, even though I had my very own stop sign hand crafted from a pinata stick.

Party was almost a success, apart from being broken up by a fight and having to call an ambulance. Then afterward, being the absolute genius that I am, fell over my own feet and am currently stuck in bed suffering from an infected knee and possible fluid in and around the knee cap.

But I soldiered on! Went out clubbing with the boys and ended up in a pizza place with more random boys who were kind enough to pay for both my pizza and my taxi home.

Lesson here???

I am far more gravity-abled in High Heels rather than flats! :)

Online Shopping At Its Best

One of my favourite places to shop online is ASOS.
Everything looks amazing and the size charts are incredibly accurate but my favourite thing about this site?
FREE SHIPPING FROM THE UK!

But recently I have discovered a brand new online gem.
I just found the most amazing playsuit and it has been express posted for a very reasonable price.
She is a Sydney based designer who ha entire collections that make me whimsical and happy just browsing. Every now and then she has an amazing sale and you can pick things up for a total steal.

I learnt about her from another amazing blogger Vanessa Stillone who lives eats and breathes fashion, pretty sure you should all follow her blog and read it religiously.

Things That Make You Hate Humanity

Yesterday while at work I had someone threaten not only my life but that of all of my employees.

This makes me question humanity in general, I mean coming into a retail store and calmly telling me
"I'm going to go home and get my gun then I'm going to come back here and shoot you in the face. Then I'm going to shoot all of your staff because none of you will help me."

But it was more than that, he said it so calmly and quietly and with a sadistic smile across his face the whole time. Then he laughed when I told him I was calling the police. He laughed. What sort of a psychotic individual does that?

All I can say is thank god for police and personal protection orders because this guy scared the absolute crap out of me. Now don't get me wrong I've dealt with my fair share of crazy people before but this guy was totally different I actually thought he would come back into the store with a gun and shoot the place up.

Funniest part of the whole experience? Because I work for a phone company and he had an account with us I had access to all of his personal information including his drivers licence number, making it that much easier for the police to go round to his house and issue him with an AVO and also search his house for weapons of any description.

I hate how much this has affected me, I hate that one person saying this one thing can make me feel unsafe in my own home, even force me to take time out of my day to go to court to ensure that you can never come near me again.

Then he had the audacity to claim that he never threatened me or my staff once the police turned up on his doorstep. Pity we had 3 staff and 2 customers who heard the threat you idiot!!!

GRRRR I'm just so annoyed that he thought he wouldn't get caught, or that he thought I wouldn't do anything about it.

Anyway thats my rant for the day thank-you to those of you who continue to read my thoughts and still want me to keep posting, you're all gems.

Hardest Part Of Any Job

Today I had to fire one of my friends....

This is the absolute worst part of my job and i hate doing it, i was on the verge of vomiting when I found out I had to do it.

All I can say is thank goodness she is an amazing person who took it on board and understood why it was happening but most importantly didn't hold a grudge.

On the plus side I had the most amazing play list on earth today, the perfect mix of Dub Step, Trance, Electro Pop and 90's all rolled into a great beat that made the rest of the day turn around.

My life would suck without MUSIC!

A Birthday To Remember...

In case you guys didn't know, every birthday should be an amazing event, something that every person that attends should be talking about for years to come. That's the goal of every birthday that I throw and this year was no exception. Last year my 21st sucked to the extreme so this year on 21 take 2 I did it up right.

Pre-drinks with tequila, party outfit to make anyone jealous, fake tans, manicures, friends, LIMOS and the ultimate party destination Home Night Club Sydney. Granted I only remembered the first half of the evening as I was far too drunk from patron and champagne from the limo to remember anything but I know it was amazing.

One of my besties Liam came from Melbourne and we tore it up hardcore both Friday and Saturday night. Friday we went to my regular gay bar Stonewall Hotel to be told constantly that I'm fabulous and have the drag queens buy me drinks all night. Half way through the evening my favourite Drag Queen of all time Tora Hymen pulled me up on stage to sing Happy Birthday to me, and force the rest of the club to sing along as well.

In case you didn't know, this is the ONLY way to spend your birthday, being adored by people whether its forced or not ha ha.

The Saturday night was the big Limo party, white stretch Limo's appeared at my front door and took me and 20 friends into the city to Home Nightclub to dance the night away. For those of you who don't know me I'm a center stage kind of girl, so anyone who lost me found me front row center with a pink fluffy crown in the middle of the stage.

Everyone bought me shots and unfortunately around one am I hurled on my friend Pamela's hand and then got escorted back to the hotel room to sleep off the numerous Tequila shots.

Lesson here??? Never mix tequila with Champagne!

The Ultimate Dream

For me, the highlight of every year, bigger than both my birthday and Christmas combined is The Sydney Fashion Festival. It combines Art, Fashion, Inspiration and Music into one phenomenal week of catwalks and celebrity sightings.

I camp out for these tickets every year (metaphorically speaking of course!) I put an alarm into my phone the day they go on sale and buy a ticket for every single night.

Last year was my fourth year attending the sacred event and two of my dreams came true in one night. I purchased a front row seat for a mere $50 and after sitting down i had someone tap me on the shoulder and ask politely "Excuse me love, would you be able to stand up so we can get to our seats, they are right next to you." I went to stand up and almost fell over. Alex Perry and Jayson Brunsdon were standing directly next to me with huge smiles plastered on their faces. I can officially die happy after meeting them.

You would think that you wouldn't make a complete fool out of yourself when you meet two of your idols but lets face it we all have our faults and mine is becoming a blubbering idiot around fashion designers. All i could bring myself to blurt out was "I love you..." they both laughed and thanked me so politely i almost died.

Alex's garments came down the runway and i grabbed his hand and squealed "OMG you've got sequins!" He laughed and responded with "Of course would you expect anything less?" This goes to show you that even when you act like a complete idiot some of your idols will still give you the time of day.

After the show I was lucky enough to hang around and chat to both Jayson and Alex about what inspired their collections, how they started out and what drove them to this career. I can officially die happy now.

The event is never something to be missed, for as little as $20 you can experience all the world of Fashion has to offer, as well as mingle with the designers, get your hair and make up done and pose for magazines. This is a night out for every girl and you should all definitely put this on your bucket list.
